How fees work
You pay Clay directly. Here is how that works, in the order people usually ask.
If you pay yourself
Clay is a cash-based practice. You pay for each visit when you come. We do not bill Medicare or other plans. What sets the fee is the length of the visit and what it includes, and we tell you before you book.
Paid at each visit, or as a block of visits agreed in writing
A block states what it includes, its term, how to cancel and how a refund works
Ask us whether a reduced-fee spot is open
Receipts for reimbursement
After each visit we give you a receipt that lists the date, the care and the codes your plan may ask for. Some plans reimburse some of what you pay outside their network, and some do not. Call your plan first. We cannot tell you what it will pay.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start, and we give you a written estimate in advance. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Checking your benefits
We do not bill your plan, so there are no benefits for us to check. If you plan to ask your plan to reimburse you, call it first and ask about physical therapy outside its network. Our front desk can tell you what we will list on your receipt.
What the first visit includes
Your first visit is a full hour with a physical therapist, one-on-one. Your therapist listens, examines you, explains what she finds and agrees on a plan with you. She also explains the risks and your choices.
A few more questions about cost
Can I use a health savings or flexible spending card?
Ask your plan administrator whether your card covers physical therapy outside a network. We give you a receipt for each visit.
What if my injury is from work or a car accident?
Tell us when you call, and tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care, and we explain what that means for paying us.
What if I need to cancel?
Please tell us as early as you can. The terms are in your estimate, so you see them before your first visit.
